Psalm 46

Psalm 46

Author: The sons of Korah

This was a psalm sung in soprano – Alamoth

God is our Refuge and Strength

Verse 1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Verse 2 – Therefore we will not fear, if the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Verse 3 – Though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

God is our refuge even in total destruction. For those who put their trust in Him, we need not fear in any circumstance.

Verse 4 – There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

Verse 5 – God is in the mist of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

In Revelation 22, John describes a pure river, water of life , crystal clear, proceeding from the throne of God. This river feeds the “Tree of Life.” The leaves are for the healing of the nations. Do you remember another tree of life mentioned in scripture? Genesis 2:9 – And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The tree of life was in the center, but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is not mentioned in Revelation 22, it’s not there. Only the tree of life. In the same way in our lives, we put Christ, who gives life, in the center of our lives. We as believers have been given the Holy Spirit which flows in our hearts, like a mighty river from the throne of our Mighty God.

Verse 6 – The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

Verse 7 – The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Verse 8 – Come, behold the works of the Lord, who has made desolation’s in the earth.

Verse 9 – He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

Verse – Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Verse 11 – The Lord of hosts is with us; – the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
