Verse 1 – Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
A rock is solid – shows the steadfast character of God.
Verse 2 – Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
Verse 3 – For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.
Verse 4 – In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also.
Verse 5 – The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.
Verse 6 – Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
Verse 7 – For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if you will hear His voice;
Do you ever just sit and meditate on everything God has created? Do you look at the beautiful mountains; seasons that change; animals that run freely in the forests; how about the oceans and seas knowing where to stop? He made all of that, and you. Should this great God that created everything not be worshiped with everything within us?
When we gather with others or are alone by ourselves, He deserves worship. We should have a grateful heart for what such a magnificent God created for us to enjoy.
Verse 8 – “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, and as in the day of trial in the wilderness,
Verse 9 – When your fathers tested Me; they proved Me, though they saw My work.
Have you ever met a person who has hardened their heart towards God? God calls that rebellion. When one rebels against God, they determine in their heart a strong resistance to God’s ways and goodness. That’s what the Israelites did in the wilderness. They didn’t believe God when He told them He was giving them a promise land flowing with milk and honey.
Even though the Israelites had seen the mighty works of God’s hand-miracles, they still didn’t believe Him. That’s what God was referring to in verses 8&9. Even though we see what all God All Mighty has done in our lives some still won’t follow Him. They revolt!
Verse 10 – For forty years I was grieved with that generation, and said; it is a people who go astray in their hearts, and they do not know My ways!
Verse 11 – So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.”
What makes a person grow hard-hearted towards the things of God? I don’t believe it happens over night. One of the things that can happen is not being treated right by people who call themselves “Christians.” When someone who doesn’t know who Christ is, or who our loving God is, for that matter, see Christians doing and acting in situations the same way the rest of the world does, why would they want any part of what they claim to have? They compare God’s character to how these so-called Christians are, to how God would treat them.
Some you will never convince that God’s not like that, some you will turn back. Just know this: the lost and the Christian are watching; what we do, what we say, how we react, and most importantly how we live our lives.
Here are some of the things others are watching us do or not do: Do we talk about God as if we know Him personally all the while never darting in His house of worship; use bad language, gossip or are we rude to others? There has to be a separation in how a true believer conducts their every day life in order for someone who doesn’t know the True and Living God, to want what we have. Let’s not be the cause of someone hardening their heart towards God, because we as God’s children don’t know how to act.
Live what you believe!
