Verse 1 – The Lord reigns; let the people tremble! He dwells between the cherubim; let the earth be moved!
Verse 2 – The Lord is great in Zion, and He is high above all the peoples.
Verse 3 – Let them praise Your great and awesome name – He is holy.
Too often in our society people take the name of God in vain. His name is not a swear word nor should it be taken as a frustrated adjective. His name is Holy and should be held in our highest regard at all times. If He is your Father, then we should show respect to the family name.
Verse 4 – The king’s strength also loves justice; You have established equity (uprightness); You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
Verse 5 – Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool; for He is holy.
Verse 6 – Moses and Aaron were among His priest, and Samuel was among those who called upon His name; they called upon the Lord, and He answered them.
How these three prayed were so much more than some of us do today. They were constantly interceding for Israel’s people. They wanted the enemies of God destroyed and all of Israel delivered. I wonder what would happen if every believer put aside their own requests for one week, and prayed for our nation and leaders?
God knows what each one of us have need of and He said He will supply it, so why not every person for one week pray for our nation to start putting God first and that the leaders would repent and get back to what God says. I’ll do it, why not join me?
Verse 7 – He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar; they kept His testimonies and the ordnance that He gave them.
Verse 8 – You answered them, O Lord our God; You were to them God-Who-Forgives, though You took vengeance on their deeds.
Verse 9 – Exalt the Lord our God; and worship at His holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.
Even though God forgives our sin, the deeds have consequences.
