Salvation Includes Healing

Psalm 51

Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

In this verse the Greek word “Soteria,” is used for “Salvation.” It includes not only forgiveness of sin, but also healing, deliverance, protection, prosperity, and to make whole.

Now look at James 5:14, 15 – Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith shall save (sozo) the sick.

The Greek word for save in this verse is “Sozo” and is used with “Soteria” to denote salvation and deliverance from suffering. Healing is part of our salvation. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation; unto our healing; unto our financial prosperity; and unto our deliverance. We are made whole!

To be healthy has a lot more to do with what we feed our spirit. Do you know that when you are at peace on the inside, that it will boost your immune system? Look at Proverbs 17:22 – A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

We look too many times for a pill to fix the problem or even eating certain foods, but if we’d pay a little more attention to the spiritual root of things, we just might discover some things about how God works.

Isaiah told us in 26:3 how to stay at peace on the inside: Thou (God) will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.

This is something I’ve had to train myself in. Any time pressure comes from things out of my control, I recall what the Bible says about that situation. We then begin to build our faith and trust in knowing God said He is working it all out for my good. Why? Because I love God and I’m called according to His purpose – so I trust Him (Romans 8:28).

So when you need healing, go find all the verses that say we are healed; we were healed; look at all the times Jesus healed others in scripture. Build yourself up and believe it because God said it!
