When God Tests Us

The measure of faith

Do you ever feel trapped by your circumstances? Even after all you’ve learned about God’s kindness and mercy, do you still wonder if He is going to answer your prayer?

Gideon asked the same thing in Judges 6:13 – “If the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us?” (Why has God allowed this to happen to me?)

Our faith does get tested. We can praise; go to church; pray; and tell others to be strong, but when the “rubber hits the road: you will find out what God has placed on the inside of you. Our choice is, will we remain in the fight or will we walk away and quit?

Abraham was tested in a mighty way when he was going to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham knew the best way out of that situation was to be obedient to God.

Sometimes our circumstances are because of what others have done; sometimes they are of our own making; and sometimes it’s a test of faith from God.

So, how are we going to use our faith to get out?

First, faith reminds us that God is always faithful and true to His Word. He always has His eye on us and our trouble we are in. We say, “I don’t understand why this is happening.” If we always have to understand God to obey God, then I don’t think we will obey.

To obey only what we understand is only to agree with God. To obey when we don’t understand is obedience by faith!

Obedience by faith then leads to understanding the ways of God and the wisdom of God.

Psalm 46:10, tells us to “Be still and know that I am God.” Jesus said He’d never leave us to go through anything alone. He is with you. Rest in Him and trust that He knows what He is doing.
