Psalm 133

Psalm 133

Author: David

Verse 1 – Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Satan loves division; division in families, division in marriages; and just plain division and discord among the body of believers. Believers should stand in unity together for the purpose of God; to see the lost saved and disciple them and be about the Father’s business.

Verse 2 – It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments.

Expensive oil was used by Moses to anoint Aaron as the first high priest of Israel (Exodus 29:7). Brotherly unity, like the anointing oil shows that we are dedicated to serving God wholeheartedly.

Verse 3 – It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing-life forevermore.

Physically, Mt Hermon was to Canaan what Aaron was ceremonially to Israel, its head and crown, thereby both refreshing and rendering it fruit.
