Psalm 134

Psalm 134

Author: Anonymous – some suggest Hezekiah

Verse 1 – Behold, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who by night stand in the house of the Lord!

Verse 2 – Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.

Praise and bless are the same word in Hebrew; Barak – to bless. When we say, “Bless the Lord,” it is to praise Him.

Verse 3 – The Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!

This psalm is about the Levites who served as temple watchmen. The worshipers would sing this psalm as they would see the “watchmen” tending the temple. They saw them work as praise to God, done reverently and responsible.
