Psalm 145

Psalm 145

Author: David

Testify to God’s Great Acts

Verse 1 – I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever.

Verse 2 – Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever.

Verse 3 – Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.

We can’t comprehend God’s superiority. He spoke everything into existence. How great is that? He came in the flesh; died and rose from the grave; and died for you and me!

Verse 4 – One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.

I think that’s one of the things we are missing in this generation. I don’t hear a lot of telling others what God has done, except in church. Even among people I know, I don’t hear God getting a lot of credit for anything. I’m not ashamed to tell people, “God did that for me.!”

Verse 5 – I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works.

Verse 6 – Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness.

Verse 7 – They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness.

Verse 8 – The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.

Verse 9 – The Lord is good to all and His tender mercies are over all His works.

Do you know it’s not pointing out to someone, all their sin and wrongs they’ve done that will bring someone to Jesus. It starts with telling someone that we have a God that loves them. Romans 2:4 – Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance (tolerance), and that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? His salvation is open to all!

Verse 10 – All Your works shall praise You O Lord, and Your saints shall bless You.

Verse 11 – They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your power,

Verse 12 – To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom,

Verse 13 – Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

Verse 14 – The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down.

We were never meant to carry the burdens of life on our shoulders. Some are so weighed down, it causes them to stumble and fall, and even sometimes, just give up!

Psalm 55:22 – Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

1 Peter 5:6, 7 – Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, (verse 7) casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

When we humble ourselves before the Lord, we are admitting we can’t do it without Him. We give it all to Him and  through prayer and His Word, and His Spirit, He guides us. Our situation is never hopeless as long as we trust in Jesus. He promises to sustain us and in due time, His timing, He will exalt, lift us up!

Verse 15 – The eyes of all look expectantly to You, and You give them their food in due season.

Verse 16 – You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Verse 16, is not just talking about the wild animals that God created just to receive food. David wrote this verse making it literally to mean, “When God All Mighty opens His mighty hand of favor on our lives, we will see “No lack!” Our God never shows up empty-handed. Why do we so often forget that ? The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want… – lack.

Verse 17 – The Lord is gracious in all His ways, gracious in all His works.

Verse 18 – The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.

Calling upon Him in truth: First you have to believe what is written in the Word of God as truth. Then when we pray, we believe we receive, whether you see it right then or not.

Look at this: 1 John 5:14, 15 – Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (verse 15) And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petition that we have asked of Him.

Verse 19 – He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.

Verse 20 – The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.

Verse 21 – My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh shall bless His holy name forever and ever.

When praises go up, the joy of Lord will come on you. When we praise Him, we praise Him for what He has done and what He is doing, and what He will do. We thank Him for the end result before we see the victory because we know with confidence He heard us when we prayed. He does reward those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrew 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

God is not our genie at our beck and call. If you are truly born-again, filled with His Spirit, then you have confidence He hears your prayer or petition. Whatsoever you ask in the name of Jesus, you shall have it! Believe and receive!
