Psalm 147

Psalm 147

Author: Anonymous

Verse 1 – Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.

Verse 2 – The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

Verse 3 – He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

Verse 4 – He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.

Verse 5 – Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.

We will never understand God’s full character, its infinite. His ability to look on the heart and see our motives and desires is something no one else has the ability to do. However, when we are confused with what is happening in our lives, there is only One source we go to – God in His infinite wisdom gladly gives to those who ask.

Verse 6 – The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.

Verse 7 – Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises on the harp to our God,

Verse 8 – Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains.

Nothing in heaven or on this earth escapes God’s attention.

Verse 9 – He gives to the beast its food, and to the young raven that cry .

Verse 10 – He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

Verse 11 – The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.

God has placed gifts, talents, and skill down on the inside of each of us. When we use them for His glory, He will take us further than we could ever have imagined.

Verse 12 – Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise Your God, O Zion!

Verse 13 – For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you.

Verse 14 – He makes peace in your borders, and fills you with the finest wheat.

Verse 15 – He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.

Verse 16 – He gives snow like wood; He scatters the frost like ashes,

Verse 17 – He casts out His hail like morsels; who can stand before His cold?

verse 18 – He sends out His Word and melts them; He cause wind to blow, and the water flow.

God’s spoken word accomplishes all that He declares.

Verse 19 – He declares His Word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel.

Verse 20 – He has not dealt thus with any nation; and as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise the Lord!

Through the Jewish people, God brought His son, Jesus. Now, all those who believe in His son are under that same family.
