Revelation – Chapter 19

The terrible judgments will be brought to an end. All rebellion will stop. Man’s efforts to bring peace, and finally Jesus will return bringing peaceful days of blessings to all believers.

Verse 1 – After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power to the Lord our God!

After the destruction of Babylon and the worldwide reaction, the roar of a great multitude will be heard in heaven. Salvation speaks of deliverance to all saints. Power refers to His ability to overcome His enemies.

Verse 2 – “For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.”

Unless a person is truly born-again, they will get what they deserve; one, rejecting Christ as Savior and Lord, and two, for the deeds done while living.

Verse 3 – Again they said, “Alleluia! And her smoke rises up forever and ever!”

Verse 4 – And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, “Amen! Alleluia!”

The angels, the Old Testament Saints, the Church Saints, and the Tribulation Saints will raise their voices in unison, which will be louder than thunder.

Verse 5 – Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you saints His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!”

Then Christ speaks, declaring the will of God, for all creatures and peoples to praise the One True God.

Verse 6 – And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns.

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Verse 7 – “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”

For those who have not been saved very long, this may be confusing to you, but the body of believers are called the Church, the Church is called the bride of Christ. What is about to take place is a celebration of the marriage to Christ for all eternity.

When the marriage of Christ and the Church is finalized, believers will be in a perfect and final state for all eternity. In the present era, now, the Church is engaged to Christ in a relationship that is so binding it is described as a “Marriage.”

Verse 8 – And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

A person’s deeds will follow them to heaven where they will be worn like a gown or a robe. Faith in Christ makes that possible.

Verse 9 – Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are of the Lamb!” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

To best explain the marriage supper, go to Matthew 8:12. The marriage of the Lamb to the Church will take place in heaven, but the marriage supper will take place on earth.

Verse 10 – And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

When John fell at the angel’s feet, the angel said, “Don’t do that!” Worship of anyone or anything other than God is forbidden.

Jesus predicted that He would die, be buried, and on the third day be raised, and come again. His predictions are His testimony and also prophecy. Everything He predicted is prophecy. Those who understand this hold to the testimony of Jesus. Woe to those who don’t believe in Bible prophecy.

The Second Coming of Christ

Verse 11 – Then I saw heaven opened and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

Everything we have studied in Revelation has been building to this point. This will be a terrifying sight to the Antichrist and his followers.

This rider, Jesus, will be called Faithful and True because He has done and will do everything God asks Him to do, He did when He walked on this earth, perfectly! Now when He comes back the second time, He will again be perfect to the last detail of the Father’s will.

With justice He judges and makes war is a reference to the purpose of His coming. He returns as a warrior to judge the inhabitants of the earth. He will deal with their sin, settle their eternal destinies, and establish His reign. The earth will be ripe for judgment.

Verse 12 – His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.

Christ;’s fiery eyes reveal His insight, knowledge, wisdom and anger. He will have all knowledge of each individual and their sin. His many crowns reveal His royalty, authority, and majesty. He has full authority in heaven and on earth. He will have a name that only He knows.

Verse 13 – He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Christ is coming back to deal with hundreds of millions of unbelievers at the Battle of Armageddon, and it will be a bloodbath.

Jesus is “The Word of God” made flesh. The Bible is the “Written Word of God.” The message of the “Spirit” is the spoken “Word of God.” Jesus is the “Living Word of God” and He is the One who fulfills the written and spoken Word of God!

Verse 14 – And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

“And the armies of heaven” – the Church, people from Pentecost to the Rapture – holy angels – martyred Tribulation Saints – Old Testament Saints and these are His armies.

Verse 15 – Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

The battle will be fought with the Word of God. When the soldiers went to the Garden of Gethsemane to arrest Jesus, He spoke and they fell back. At Armageddon He will simply speak to destroy the opposing nations.

Verse 16 – And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

It’s hard to believe there are any people left, but there are. Thousands will have survived, up to this point, because they worshiped the beast. They were able to buy and sell, eat and prosper, but now they have all joined to fight in this one battle and they will be defeated by the Word of God!

Verse 17 – The I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God,

Verse 18 – “that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.”

Satan knows how this all ends, but with a tremendous spirit of pride, he still thinks he can defeat our Lord. Not so. The Antichrist and his armies will become food for vultures.

Verse 19 – And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.

The Antichrist will  lead these ten puppet kings and all who join them into battle with their troops from all over the world. The kings of the East alone will have 200 million troupes.

Revelation 16:14 – They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

Verse 20 – Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

The Antichrist and the False prophet are the first two cast into the lake of fire, but not the devil, as of yet. The entire armies will be devoured by the fowl of the air.

Verse 21 – And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Not only do the lost not know what will take place after the Rapture of the Church, but there are many Christians who never give it a second thought how horrible it is going to be during this Tribulation Period. I can’t understand why every Christian would not want to study and read the Book of Revelation. Would it not make more sense to know and be able to tell a lost person what they might have to face one day if they are not raptured before it ever starts? This book should intensify every believers witness!
