How can we be an effective minister to others? In 1 Peter 4:11 it says, “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” A person does not minister out of their own ability, but out of the ability that God gives.
When the Holy Spirit comes to live on the inside of the born again Christian, God Himself comes to live on the inside of us. He begins to speak and flow through us. We need to remember that, when we begin sharing or teaching with other people, this is what is called the gifts of the Spirit. God gives every single person specific gifts in the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6 says, “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. (Verse 5) There are differences of ministries, bu the same Lord. (Verse 6) And there are diversities of activities, bu it is the same God who works all in all.” This means that God works these things in all of us, as Verse 7 says. “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all;
These verses tell us that God has put supernatural ability within every single Christian. Some may not feel or be aware of it, but this is a promise of God’s Word. We carry other people’s miracles on the inside of us. God has put the seed form of a miracle inside us for somebody else. Not a single Christian has been left out!
Nine different gifts of he Spirit are listed in 1 Corinthians 12, such as a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, discerning of spirits, working miracles, gifts of healing, etc. ( I might add, there is no gift of “discernment , as some like to say. It is a gift of discerning of spirits.) There are other gifts listed in Romans 12 also.
Many people have a gift or several, and are not aware of it. There are gifts for teaching, preaching, hospitality. You may have a gift to spot people who feel uncomfortable in a group of people and you go over and speak kind words to them and make them feel welcome. These are all supernatural gifts from God.The book of Romans, Chapter 12, speaks of people who have the gift of giving. They are able to give substantial money to keep someone’s ministry going forward. Some will have the gift of exhortation. There are some of you who have the ability to encourage those who are discouraged. God has placed these gifts and talents,that makes you gravitate toward doing certain things within the body and on the outside reaching the lost.
The love that God has placed in you through His Spirit, will flow to others to encourage and help. Recognize that you are gifted in Christ and you are equipped to do all things for the kingdom of God.
