Oh Glorious Day

Regarding the Second Coming of Christ, how should we live in the present?

Do Business Till I come

Luke 19:11 – Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately.

Jesus was about to go to the cross and they didn’t understand, even though He’s explained it to them many times. They thought the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately. (Verse 12) Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. (Verse 13) “So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ (The servants represent believers.)

(Verse 14) “But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’ (The citizens are the unbelievers.) (Verse 15) “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

(Verse 16) “Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ (Verse 17) “And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ (Verse 18) “And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ (Verse 19) “Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’ (Verse 20) “And another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. (Verse 21) ‘For I feared you because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’

(Verse 22) “And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. (Verse 23) ‘Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’

(Verse 24) “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ (Verse 25) (“But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) (Verse 26) ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

That was about the servants, now back to the citizens, unbelievers. (Verse 27) ‘But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ “

That parable is a good example to believers that we have a responsibility while on this earth waiting for His Second coming. Do business for the kingdom until He comes.

Don’t Get Sidetracked

Matthew 24:3 – Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to HIm privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” (Verse 4) And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. (Verse 5) “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. (Verse 6) “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

(Verse 7) “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. (Verse 8) “All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Verse 9) “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.

(Verse 10) “And then many will be offended, will betray one another and will hate one another. (Verse 11) “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. (Verse 12) “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. (Verse 13) “But he who endures to the end shall be saved. (Verse 14) “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

Just about every generation has had the signs that were mentioned, but the end is not yet. The end will come when “This gospel” is preached all over the world. Modern-day preaching gets people sidetracked to the point of turning the gospel into “Self-help.” The “doing business” till He comes, is preaching the gospel. People have always wondered and tried to predict exactly when Jesus is coming back, but He said, Matthew 24:36 – “But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”

Don’t get deceived and don’t get sidetracked, and do business until He comes. The one thing we need to know about His Second Coming is “This gospel will be preached in the whole world!” And then the end will come.
