The Father Is Omni

The omnipotence, the omniscient, and the omnipresence of God are all attributes of God. The word “Omni” means “all.” When we understand who God is, it changes our lives.

The Father is Omnipotent

This means omnipotent and potent means powerful. So God is “all-powerful.” This means that God has all power and all the ability to perform all of His decrees. Without the omnipotence of God, the rest of His attributes would be feeble. If God was not “all-powerful,” He couldn’t act on His goodness. He wouldn’t be able to fulfill His good desires toward us. However, He can because He has all power!

It might help us understand this if we put God’s power in two categories: God has “supreme” and “absolute” power. Supreme is His right to act and absolute is His ability to act. His power is above all. And because He has all power, we have peace.

When our world is out of control, things in our lives are a mess, we can have peace through Him! Here is what this means to us personally: It means that you and I have the power to overcome sin.

1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. There is no sin, no temptation, that we can’t get free from because God is “all-powerful” and He won’t allow it to overtake us.

Here is the second thing that this means to Christians: It means that we can overcome sickness also. Romans 8:11 – But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Most people don’t relate this Scripture with sickness. This is talking about our “physical bodies!” We can overcome sickness because God has all-power.

Here is the third thing this means to us: It means I can overcome Satan:  1 John 4:4 – You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (“Them” is the spirit of antiChrists’.) So we can overcome sin, sickness, and Satan. Why? Because He is greater that is in you than he that is in the world. Satan is a created being and no created being is more powerful than their Creator! Satan is not beyond God’s control or beyond His power, ever!

The Father is Omniscient

This means that God has “all knowledge.” God knows everything, everything actual and everything possible. All events and all creatures, past, present, and future, at the same time! God can’t learn anything because He has all knowledge.

God also doesn’t think the way we think. We try to figure things out, but God is never trying to figure something out. He’s never bewildered or confused. This also means that nothing can ever happen to us that God didn’t know about and already planned and provided for us.

In the Book of Job, chapter after chapter, Job’s friends are complaining to him. Then Job starts complaining, but then God answers Job:

Job 38:1 – Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, (Verse 2) “Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? (Verse 3) Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. (Verse 4) “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. (Verse 5) Who determined its measurements? Surely you know!

(Verse 12) “Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place, (Verse 13) that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked to be shaken out of it?

(Verse 16) “Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of its depth? (Verse 17) Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death? (Verse 18) Have you comprehended the breath of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this. (Verse 19) Where is the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place, (Verse 20) that you may take it to its territory, that you may know the paths to its home?

(Verse 21) Do you know it, because you were born then, or because the number of your days is great? (Verse 22) “Have you entered the treasury of snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail, (Verse 23) which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war? (Verse 24) By what way is light diffused, or the east wind scattered over the earth?

(Verse 34) “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that an abundance of water may cover you? (Verse 35) Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, and say to you, ‘Here we are!’?

God has all the answers! He knows exactly what we need and when we need it because He knows the end result before it ever happens!

The Father is Omnipresent

This means that He is fully present in all places at all times! Psalm 139:7 – Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? (Verse 8) If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

The first six verses of Psalm 139 show the omniscience of God; verses 7 through 12, show the omnipresence of God; and verses 13 through 18, show the omnipotence of God. The last verses show the justice of God.

God doesn’t have to travel like we do, He’s already there! He’s fully present everywhere at the same time. God is above all presiding; He is beneath all, sustaining all; He is outside of all, embracing all; and He is inside of all, filling.

1 Kings 8:27 – “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven, and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You… We are not ever by ourselves if we are a believer! God is everywhere and always with us!

Because God is everywhere, how can people make the statement, “I don’t feel close to God?” First of all, we are not far from God “geographically.” It’s not the location that causes people to feel alone, it’s a matter of the heart. Those that don’t walk close with Him, even if they are a believer, aren’t close to Him because they are not walking in unity! Yes, God is omnipresent but His manifest presence is when we get in unity with Him!

God is all-powerful which means: There is no problem in our lives that God is not able to take care of!!
