The Lord’s Prayer
All Christians’s will come under spiritual attack at some time in their lives. This new series will help us to know how to pray and be victorious in Jesus name. Think about this: If we give Satan credit or blame when things are going bad in our lives, are we going to give him credit also when things are going well? No, but is our focus too much on the enemy in our situations?
The problem is not that we are being attacked more at certain times than others, it’s that we get stuck and focused on what the devil is doing to us and we are not focusing on what God has said and done. Maybe we need to learn or re-learn how to pray like Jesus taught His disciples.
Luke 11:1 – And it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, ” Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” (Verse 2) So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew says, “In this manner.” Jesus gave us a pattern. He didn’t say, “If you pray,” He said, “When you pray.”
Take Your Praying Seriously
Why? Because we are in a battle and the one that we’re in a battle with wants to kill and destroy us! The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy.
Ephesians 6:12 – For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
The word “principality” means a prince over a region. The Bible says we are fighting principalities that have power. We better know what we are doing when we pray to combat these evil beings because this is a matter of life or death. Here is the question we should ask when we see the enemy start to attack us more than usual: Why are more of the enemies attacks hitting their mark? The book of Ephesians says that if we put on the shield of faith we can quench every fiery dart from the wicked one.
We have to raise the level of prayer. The enemy is not going to just let us call our country back toward God. We are in a battle that will take tremendous prayer warriors to get this done. Yesterday, June 2, 2019, all Christians were called to pray for our president and this country. I believe we will start to see some changes. But we can’t just pray one time and think that is enough. We have to continue to pray that people will come to their senses, repent, and follow God, the true God.
Look at what Daniel says about a principality when he was praying and fasting for 21 days and then an angel brings his answer:
Daniel 10:12 – Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for, from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come because of your words. (Verse 13) “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the king of Persia.
This angel from God was dispatched on the very first day Daniel prayed! But this angel had to do battle with another angel, a fallen angel, and he wouldn’t have gotten to Daniel if it had not been for an Arch Angel named Michael! When we pray, things begin to happen in the heavenly realm.
Daniel 10:20 – Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? And now I must return to fight with the prince of Persia, and when I have gone forth, indeed the prince of Greece will come. (Verse 21) “But I will tell you what is noted in the Scripture of Truth. (No one upholds me against these except Michael your prince.)”
In other words, “Daniel, you have a prince who is watching after you. Our Prince is the Prince of Peace! But we have to pray. Daniel didn’t stop praying after the first day. And because he kept praying, his answer got through.
Demons and principalities are territorial: Mark 5:8 – For He said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!” (Verse 9) Then He asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered saying, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” (Verse 10) and he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.
These demonic spirits begged Jesus not to send them out of that country – region! These spirits had strongholds in this area and didn’t want to let go of it. There are demonic strongholds over different cities and regions in our own country too. I can think of one area, in particular, Washington D.C. Can you guess what evil principality lives there? Pride and greed! However, we can pray and then send men and women there that walk in the opposite spirit – generosity and humility.
Look what the Apostle Paul said to Titus: Titus 1:13 – This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in their faith,… Some people think that all politicians are liars and greedy and use that for an excuse not to vote or do anything. Maybe things will just get better on their own. Not so! We need to “Rebuke” these principalities in the name of Jesus and pray these people repent before it’s too late.
Evil takes over when the Christians won’t pray. Don’t ever be too busy to pray for our leaders and our country. Some are truly trying, but they can’t do it on their own. Let’s watch and see what our Mighty God is going to do after millions of believers prayed for our president and leaders yesterday. Remember this: Colossians 2:9 – For in Him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily; (Verse 10) and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Jesus is LORD over All!!
